2 million usernames and passwords for Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn and other networks have been stolen

Back in December 2003, according to CNN, a virus sent login information to a large number of networks to hackers. It is therefore not enough to “just” change your password, if you are still infected with a virus, the new password can be forwarded again.

Always make sure you have updated your antivirus program, operating system and other additional programs – such as e.g. Adobe Reader, browsers, Office programs etc. Regularly run a full antivirus scan.

You can consider turning on 2-factor authentication on the accounts that support it. Thereby, you can e.g. get a one-time password sent to your mobile phone before you can log in. This makes it difficult for hackers to gain access to your accounts.

Remember to ask for help, if you’re in doubt.
